1. Hakama's back board is made of a kind of cardboards traditionally.
They are not water regist. (Some of Hakama has plasic board.)
So, you cannot whole-wash the Hakama.
2. I recommend you cleaning yourself by spraying the water on the Hakama several
times.
Spray the water equally on the whole Hakama and
3. hang-dry.
When drying the moisture, the dusts will be
dried up from the fabric
of the Hakama.
4. After dried, spray the water again, and repeat this twice or third.
I think three times spraying is much
enough. |
If you have any stains on the Hakama, please pat the stain by wet towel.
When pat the stain, put another wet towel under the fabric.
5. Please iron the Hakama over a thin fabric such as Tenugui - This is called
"Atenuno" in Japanese.
Please do not iron the Hakama
directly.
Instead of Ironing, we often do Neoshi/Nejiki.
While you are sleeping, put the Hakama
(or skirt-with-pleats.) under the Futon ( Japanese mattress) neatly
and
make iron it.
Under Futon, place a couple of papers and place your Hakama neatly.
News papers are for
1. avoiding reflection of floor's pattern (or actually, Tatami's mattress's
lines/patterns.)
2. also newspapers will absorb extra
moistures.
Just a small tips,
In this drawing, I am stepping on the border of Tatami. But actually you
must not step on the line for your luck.
Over the Hakama, cover by a pce of newspaper again, and then place your
mattress as usual.
CAUTION!! : If your Hakama is too pale,
we are afraid if the ink of newspaper reflects on the Hakama.
Good night!
Natsu-san is dreaming she become Nezumikozou. |
Good morning.
Your Hakama is beautifully ironed.
NOTE!! : When you could not place your Hakama neatly, sometime
you got extra pleat-line where should not be one. |
P.S.
According to one of our staff who do Kendou (a kind of martial arts),
he washes his Hakama only under the back-board.
Helding the back-board and wave and wash them in bath-tub.
And he hang the Hakama dry up and do Neoshi
(Iron under the futon.)
This sounds to be very rough for fabric.
But
his Hakama is not so damaged, he said.
We think this can be also very good idea too.
